Description

Program:

The Hand Up Food Pantry believes in helping clients reach self-sufficiency by providing a 'hand up' not just a hand out to clients experiencing food-insecurity. They accomplish this by connecting clients to resources in addition to providing emergency food relief.

Stamp Out Hunger is a one day, nation wide food drive hosted by the United States Postal Service. Citizens are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items that are collected by USPS letter carriers and brought to their local post office. These collections are then donated to a local food bank, pantry, or shelter. The Hand Up Food Pantry is one of these recipients.

Volunteers get to join the battle against food insecurity and participate in the largest food drive in the nation. By joining JFS for collecting, sorting, and organizing, volunteers are able to make a difference in the lives of San Diegans who are struggling with food insecurity.
