Let’s Talk About (our JFS) Values
Organization Values are core to every organization. Some even say these values are the organization's DNA. These set values define how organizations pursue their mission, guides the decision-making process, and provides a road map in order for everyone in the organization reach the goals set forth as an organization.
Over 100 years ago, a group of compassionate Jewish women saw an immediate need and took action to provide a safety net for Jewish immigrants. Today, our nine Guiding Values are the driving force behind our efforts and fill our work with meaning. We believe that the only thing that matters as much as what we do is the spirit in which we do it. Our Guiding Values are powerful and present in all of our programs to this day.
- Tikkun Olam- Repairing the World
- Gemilut Hasadim- Acts of Loving Kindness
- Kehillah- Community
- R'fuah- Healing
- B'riut- Health
- B'tzelem Elohim- In G-d's Image/Respecting the Inherent Dignity of the Individual
- Tzedek- Justice
- Shleimut- Wholeness
- Tikvah- Hope
Let's Talk About (our JFS) Values
Join this conversation-style workshop and learn about our JFS Guiding Values. Through conversation, we will discuss the roots of our JFS Values, how JFS values intersect with personal values, give meaning to the work we do every day, and the role we play in our values living on through our work.
Jewish Learning Initiative
Honoring and celebrating Jewish traditions and values is core to who JFS is as an agency. While clients, staff and volunteers of JFS come from a variety of different cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds, the foundation of the work we do is built on values that are core to the Jewish community.
Throughout the year at JFS, staff have an opportunity to engage in and learn about JFS Guiding Jewish Values, Jewish traditions, and how they connect to our purpose and services.
