Emergency Food Distribution Volunteer

Description

Community Need

Many federal government employees, contractors and their families are being impacted by the government shutdown.  During this time when they may have additional financial and mental burdens, JFS is here to stand beside this community of neighbors and offer support by providing supplemental groceries – including non-perishables, pantry staples, and fresh produce.  JFS will be running a drive-thru nutrition assistance program every Wednesday evening from 4:00-6:00pm until the shutdown ends.

How You Can Help

Volunteers help JFS amplify community support and we could use your help in a few different roles (listed below) on our distribution nights on Wednesdays between 4:00-6:00pm.

*Please be prepared to assist in any of the roles listed below*

Distribution Stations (4 volunteers)

As cars drive through, volunteers will distribute pre-packaged bags of produce, dry goods, dairy/protein, and diapers (if needed) to each vehicle.

Client Intake (1 volunteer)

Assist a JFS staff member in gathering brief client information as cars arrive. Comfort with using an iPad is helpful.
