Program: San Diego Supporting Our Survivors (SOS) volunteers provide opportunities for Survivors to connect with the Jewish community through social events and holiday programs.  Volunteers will work with JFS staff to help create an inviting atmosphere by setting up and decorating tables and surrounding spaces, as well as assisting with clean up after an event. 

Goal of Position: Assist the San Diego SOS Team in keeping our Survivors connected to each other and the Jewish Community through fun social events. 

Event: Join us for the Supporting Our Survivors Spring Luncheon, where we will enjoy the warmth of community and the sounds of San Diego Jewish Men’s Choir.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up tables and food/coffee/tea stations. 
  • Decorate venue if needed and as directed. 
  • Clear tables and stations after the event. 
  • Provide a minimum of two days’ notice if unable to fulfill volunteer time. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Complete HIPAA Privacy and Security training. 
  • Background check. 
  • DMV check. 
  • Provide own transportation to events. 
  • We recommend wearing clothes that can get dirty. 
  • Wear closed-toe shoes. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds. 
  • Wash hands and wear food-safe gloves if helping with food set up. 

 

Time Commitment:

  • Most events take place during the day or early evening. 
  • Shifts are generally 2-4 hours. 
  • Events typically occur once a quarter.  A 6-12 month commitment is recommended.
