Description

Join JFS staff and other JFS volunteers as we virtually light the 4th Hanukkah Candle.

The holiday of Hanukkah commemorates the victory of the Jewish Maccabees over the Syrian Greek army, and the subsequent miracle of rededicating the Holy Temple in Jerusalem and restoring its menorah, or lamp.

The legend of Hanukkah is that only one vial of oil was found with just enough oil to illuminate the Temple lamp for one day, and yet it lasted for eight full days. In observation of this ‘miracle’ we are commanded to light a Hanukkah Menorah for eight nights and put the lights in the window for all to see.
