Enjoy behind-the-scenes work organizing food and other donations?  Looking to volunteer indoors? Become a Donation Sort volunteer!

JFS receives donations of food, clothing, hygiene products, and other supplies, which are given to community members experiencing homelessness.  The donations we receive from the community help us to provide food, clothing, hygiene products and more to our housed and un-housed clientele. Volunteers are needed to help itemize and organize our donations to keep our shelves stocked, organized and clean.  We have shifts on the following days:

Monday through Friday – Two-hour shifts between 8:30-4:30.  During these shifts volunteers will organize food and donated items, as well as assemble snack bags.

Wednesdays Only – 8:00-10:00am – pack bags of food to distribute to JFS permanent housing clients later that day.

 

Roles & responsibilities:

  • Folding, sorting, and organizing clothing donations
  • Sorting and organizing hygiene item donations
  • Sorting and bagging fresh food donations for deliveries
  • Creating snack bags for distribution
  • Loading bags of food into delivery trucks

 

Qualifications needed:

  • Must be 18 + to volunteer independently, or 10-17 years accompanied by parent or guardian.
  • Background check required (18+ only)
  • Must be able to bend, twist, and lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must wear closed-toed shoes
