The Community Need
JFS's Recovery Action Fund for Tomorrow (RAFT) program addresses the growing need for flexible funds, connects recipients to resources that help them maximize the receipt of these funds, and supports them in planning for their future. The program serves residents of the 39 Health Equity zip codes of San Diego County and focuses on households earning 200% or less of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL).
How You Can Help
On Friday May 30th, RAFT is hosting a family-friendly event for our RAFT participants, many of whom are parents who express great difficulties in participating in certain events and activities for themselves due to lack of childcare. At this event, we will encourage them to share vulnerable experiences and delicate subjects, as they discuss their experiences in the program. By having volunteers support the provided childcare at the event, the adults would get to fully participate and immerse themselves in the activities in a way that isn't usually possible while trying to supervise their children simultaneously.
Tasks include:
- Engaging children ages infant to teens with activities
- Supervising free play
- Monitoring health and safety
- Maintaining a safe adult-to-child ratio
Time Commitment
This is a one-time opportunity on Friday, May 30th from 5:30pm-8:30pm. The event will take place at the Legacy International Center located at 875 Hotel Circle South, San Diego, CA 92108.
