Stamp Out Hunger is a one-day, nationwide food drive hosted by the United States Postal Service. People are encouraged to leave non-perishable food items near their mailbox, which are collected by USPS letter carriers and brought back to their neighborhood post office. The food is donated to a local food bank, pantry, or shelter. The JFS Hand Up Food Pantry is one of these recipients and provides food for clients experiencing food insecurity. All food collected by mail carriers dedicated to the Clairemont Post Office will go to JFS for redistribution. Each year JFS receives thousands of pounds of donated food, which allows us to feed so many of our neighbors in need. We’d love your help in sorting all the food this year!
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Ability to lift 25 lbs
- Ability to squat, bend over, reach, and lift items to waist or above
- Must be at least 13 years of age. Teens can volunteer independently, but at least 1 adult needs to accompany a group of teens.
- Sign volunteer waiver
