Program:
International Rescue Committee and Jewish Family Service are collaborating to put on a Food Distribution. We will be handing out bags of food from feeding SD, diapers, and there will be someone from JFS to sign people up for Cal Fresh.
Goal of Position:
Friday volunteers will be expected to put together food bags. Feeding SD will be delivering pallets of food, so we will have to organize the food into bags, and carry them up to a room. Saturday, volunteers will be handing out bags of food to people who drive through the distribution.
Responsibilities:
Friday, March 25th
- Sort through food donations and diapers
- Prepare bags of non perishable food
- Prepare bags of produce
Saturday, March 26th
- Help distribute bags to people walking up or driving up to the food distribution
- Help organize a system to distribute bags
- Carry bags upstairs
- Provide at least 48 hour notice if you need to cancel your volunteer time
Qualifications and accommodations:
- Must be 13+ with guardian
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
- Must wear closed-toed shoes and clothes that you don't mind getting dirty
- Must wear PPE (if you do not have your own, it will be supplied
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, physically intense warehouse
- Must be able to provide own transportation to IRC in El Cajon
- Must wash hands before handling food
- Must sign a onetime liability form and proof of vaccination
