Program Description:
Jewish Family Service of San Diego is piloting a Guaranteed Income project as an economic justice tool to help address the racial and gender inequities that impact the lives of children experiencing poverty. Guaranteed Income is a program that addresses the experience of child poverty both in the current moment and beyond. This project is meant to inform future governmental and non-profit policies.
Volunteer Impact
Childcare is essential to the success of Narrative Change Cohort meetings, a part of our Guaranteed Income work. Parents in our Guaranteed Income Pilot Project have at least one child under the age of 12. For families to be able to engage in the reflective work that we do together, they need to have peace of mind that their child(ren) are being thoughtfully looked after while they participate in the meeting.
There will be activities available for volunteers to engage in with children and an outdoor play area. JFS staff will also be present and available to support volunteers as needed.
